L’Avenir Represents Stellenbosch at World Economic Forum

L’Avenir Estate’s Single Block Chenin Blanc 2017 was selected to be served to global business and political leaders at the 49th World Economic Forum annual gathering this week.

The World Economic Forum (WEF) is the international organisation for public-private cooperation and convenes 3 000 leaders from all parts of society to co-shape a new global architecture. This year’s annual gathering was held in Davos, Switzerland this week. The agenda focuses on the next wave of globalization with the main theme being “Globalization 4.0: Shaping a Global Architecture in the Age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution”.

“As a leader of Stellenbosch Pinotage and Chenin Blanc, it is a fitting privilege that a L’Avenir wine was served to global leaders in business. It’s also a massive honour to represent South Africa and the South African wine industry on such a prominent international platform,” explains L’Avenir winemaker, Dirk Coetzee.

The L’Avenir Single Block Chenin Blanc is made from the oldest vineyard on the Estate – planted in 1972. “The vineyard is harvested in batches, at different ripeness levels. This results in an elegant and sophisticated wine, with notes of white peach, roasted almonds and a touch of fynbos honey. It’s almost as complex as world economics, but just much easier to enjoy!” quips Dirk.
