Sports gear for L’Avenir’s sport stars of the future

The learners at L’Avenir’s Pebbles Afterschool Care Centre recently received sporting gear that was donated by Sanzaar rugby referees and supporters of the L’Avenir Sports Development Initiative, at a pre-season Sanzaar event.

L’Avenir Wine Estate partnered with Sanzaar and Mitsubishi South Africa to raise funds and gear for sports development in Stellenbosch, through the Hands-on Sports Initiative at its Pebbles Project Afterschool Centre. In order to garner international support and to elevate the L’Avenir Sports Development Project to an international level, the sports gear was handed over at a special ceremony, attended by international referees Ben O’Keeffe, Marius van der Westhuizen, Aimee Barrett-Theron and Rasta Rasivhenge, as well as French media Laure Gasparotto (Le Monde) and Louis-Victor Charvet (Bettane et Desseauve).

“Advini is not only investing in South Africa’s vineyards and quality wines, we are investing in its people and the future of the country. The Pebbles Project, Hands-on Garden and Sports Development Initiatives are a fundamental part of L’Avenir’s essence. And we are specifically proud to share this with visitors and media from France,” highlights Advini strategic marketing director, Jean-Pierre Durand.

Sports development is a significant part of this drive. The L’Avenir Sports Development Project is supported by the French Embassy in South Africa, as well as prominent brand ambassadors, such as Jaco Peyper and the former Blitzbok captain, Philip Snyman.

“We have all experienced the impact that the Rugby World Cup victory had on the entire nation. By partnering with our ambassadors and likeminded supporters like Mitsubishi South Africa and The We Love Football Academy, we aim to use professional coaching and sport as a catalyst for opportunities and social upliftment in the Stellenbosch farming community,” explains Advini South Africa’s Human Resources Director, Swiegers.
